Delete your TV Casually account
You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app or by email. It can't be undone.
Before you delete
- Want a copy? Settings → Your data → Export as JSON saves a copy of your data first: library, watch history, ratings, comments, settings and more (Export as CSV: library and watch history).
- Have TV Casually Plus? Deleting your account doesn't cancel the subscription. Cancel it in the App Store (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions) first.
In the app
- Open TV Casually and go to the Library tab.
- Tap the gear icon at the top to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Read the message and tap Delete.
- If you haven't signed in during the last few minutes, the app asks you to Confirm it’s you. Sign in again the same way as before, and the deletion goes ahead.
The account is deleted right away, and the app returns to its welcome screen. If you don't see Delete account, you're either using the app without an account (see below) or need to sign in again first.
Without the app
Email support@boringlava.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address on your account, so we know the request is yours. We'll confirm and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner, and write back when it's done.
If you signed in with Apple or Google, say which. If you used Apple's "Hide My Email", deleting in the app is easiest; otherwise we'll ask you a few questions to make sure the account is yours.
What is deleted
Straight away, from our database:
- your account, email address and the ways you sign in (Apple, Google, email);
- your library, watch history, rewatches and imported history;
- your ratings, comments, reports you made, the people you blocked and your moderation history;
- achievements, statistics, recaps and settings;
- your subscription record and push notification registrations;
- every signed-in session, on all your devices.
Your comments disappear from discussions, your ratings from episode averages and your reports from the comments you reported. Sign-in links we emailed you stop working. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also tell Apple to revoke TV Casually's access.
What is kept, and for how long
- Backups. Copies of the database in our backups expire on their own: daily backups within 3 weeks, monthly backups within 13 months. They are only used to recover from a failure, and we would delete your account again after any restore.
- A record of the deletion: your account's random id and when it was deleted, nothing else, for about 13 months. It is how we know to delete your account again if a backup is ever restored.
- Server logs may mention your account's random id for up to 30 days, and in compressed archives for up to 400 days.
- Billing records of purchases and store notifications are kept for our accounts, with nothing that links them to you.
- Apple and Google keep their own records of purchases and sign-ins under their own privacy policies.
Using TV Casually without an account
If you never created an account, we have no account to delete: your library is stored only on your phone. To delete it, uninstall the app (on Android you can also clear the app's storage in the phone's settings).
Deleting only some data
You don't have to delete your account to remove things. In the app you can remove a show from your library, mark episodes unwatched, remove a rating, delete your comments (tap ⋯ on the comment), and turn reminders off. To remove anything else, write to us.
